Look, I’m on TV – HOSTING!

I’ve always thought it’s not possible for an ordinary nurse, like me, to be seen in national television. But because of series of events, which started to take place last year, I think mass media can also become one of the most promising undertakings for any registered nurse.

It all began when I first appeared for two episodes of one of the known morning drama shows in GMA Philippines, entitled “MAYNILA”. When I was still playing with my band my self-composed original vocal melody compositions (together with my bandmates’ collective musical arrangement) which were turned into songs, two of those original song compositions were aired and played in two individual program episodes. And if I’m not mistaken, they were played sometime in March of this year.

After the said musical endeavor, the realms of television and mass communication had been very friendly and accommodating to me. And the next thing I knew, I was already a regular co-host for a business portal cable show called, “What’s Up Doc, by Dr. John Cenica”. I can still remember how I ended up being one of the program’s hosts…

The topic we tackled in the most recent episode I’ve hosted in, with Dr. Cenica of “What’s Up Doc?”, was all about BEAUTY QUEEN SECRETS. Here are some of the photos we had that day:

Playing camerawoman. Will I pass being one? Lol.

Dr. Cenica thought I’d like to do this show with him mainly because I’ve once become a “beauty queen” (In my own rights!) myself, being the grand winner of the 2011 Rachell Allen Image Model Search. In this photo, I was LITERALLY blown away by Ms. Island Philippines’ beautiful face, height, and glamorous gait!

And since we’re talking about television hosting… Aside from personality, good facial “register” on television, and good command of English (or any type of lingua franca or vernacular language inherent to the country he lives in) – what do you think an aspiring host needs in order to succeed?

Actually, I made a list of some of the easiest tips that worked for me. Please feel free to check them out and comment on them. :)

Tell me about your thoughts on these things.

My Book Review Desire and Procrastinating Peeve

I have constant battle with this thing called procrastination. In most occasions, he wins. But whenever I feel the need to accomplish something bigger and of higher importance, I am very proud to say that I can battle him out.

And I guess earlier this week would be among the few days of triumph over procrastination.

Why?

Well, here’s the thing. I have this “fetish” for buying secondhand books at thrifty book shops. There’s nothing wrong with it, though. However, what pains me to think is my inability to “munch” those pages upon purchasing a novel.

I know, blame it to procrastination.

Likewise, I also encounter difficulty writing a personal review about each paperback treat I spend on (how I wish I can write a standardized and formal book review, FOR REAL).

Writing a book review is not a requisite at all. However, coming up with one gives the reader an opportunity to fully digest and synthesize the  elements of the novel – much like chewing firmly on jawbreaker burgers. Yum!

So after my match against my buddy, procrastination, I was able to write my very own book review on one of my favorite novels of all time, THE FACE IN THE MILK CARTON.

You may read how I adore the book and its authorCarolyn Cooney, here.

Hmmm… what do you think? Is the battle against procrastination worth it?

Have You Been Awarded a Blogger Award, of Some Sort?

Once in a while, I visit my blog sites (both here and at blogger) to check on updates and moderate comments. It’s very good to know that there are still some very nice individuals who take a short moment or time of their day to drop by my sites and read anything they find interesting in my reposition of contents.

When I was browsing on my WHEN WRITING MEANS SHARING blog, I came across a comment written by a fellow blogger, named Lawrence (of Colors and Grays), for my post about how re-reading one’s past blog posts can do wonders. The following is his actual comment:

well, with the number of post my blog has, I can re-read all of them. lol kaunti pa lang kasi post ko. wala pa sa 100.

anyhow, you have an award waiting for you here: http://colors-and-grays.blogspot.com/2012/06/yay-my-very-first-bloggers-award.html

Hey, wait a minute. Did he just write about an “award” awaiting me?

When I opened the link, as they say, the rest that followed was history. I hate to cut it short but I guess you gotta see the award yourself here.

Honestly, I was so not expecting this. My primary aim in writing or blogging is to actually share my knowledge and experiences to as many people as I can reach, hoping to make a difference. Never did I think that somehow, my efforts would be appreciated by others.

With that, I can’t thank all my readers enough!

How about you, have you been given such type of recognition as a blogger?

I’d love to hear more about it. :)
